The postholder must be able to attend our global headquarters in Aberdeen.

Job Type:

Part time, 5 hours per day 25 hours per week

Reporting Line:

The Customs Specialist will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager with a functional reporting line to the Materials and Logistics Team Lead.


The Customs Specialist will provide specialist knowledge on international and offshore customs requirements across the business to ensure compliance.

Key responsibilities:
The Customs Specialist will be required to:
  • Be first point of contact within the business for all offshore and international customs queries
  • Be responsible for obtaining and retaining Customs paperwork
  • Draft import clearance instructions and export invoices (for UKCS and International)
  • Proactively provide guidance and knowledge on customs legislation and compliance
  • Checking import and export entries
  • Data inputting into Customs logs and compare against MSS reports
  • Post clearance amendments
  • Managing clearance requirements for UKCS movements, both WSS owned and 3rd party
  • Managing Customs requirements for International movements as the Company expands globally
  • Provide general Customs advice to WSS staff
  • Inward Processing administration including quarterly Bills of Discharge
  • Liaise with Vendors about DbyC for their supply of rental equipment
Key outcomes:
  • All imports and exports completed by Wellsafe will be done so in an accurate and timely manner
  • Customs records will be maintained as per HM Revenue and Customs requirements
  • Vendor 3rd party equipment will be cleared timeously by the owner

Knowledge & Competency:


  • Experience in Customs compliance requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Customs rule changes impacting offshore movements
  • Experience of UKCS and International Customs movements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good planning, organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload and identify any upcoming problems early


  • Previous experience of Maximo or similar ERP systems
  • Customs experience within the energy industry
  • Experience of dealing directly with HMRC
