The Well-Safe Guardian semi-submersible P&A asset, though there may be a requirement to visit and work at other company locations or supplier’s premises as required.

Reporting Line:

The Dive Technician will report to the Dive Technician Supervisor (DTS).

Role:

The role will conduct general and company specific work and testing in accordance with company and manufacturer procedures and specifications.

The Dive Technician is regarded as someone who is fully conversant with the equipment, its certification, testing and maintenance requirements, and can demonstrate problem solving and diagnostic abilities of diving equipment associated with subsea marine operations.

They will participate in the dive technical team during operations and will report directly to the Dive Technician Supervisor when offshore.

The Dive Technician is also expected to take part in the company competence assessment process. The Dive Technician Supervisor manages the daily running of the Dive Technicians ensuring all operations are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
The Dive Technician will be required to:
  • Repair, maintenance, inspection and function testing of plant and equipment
  • Mobilisation and commissioning of plant and equipment
  • To ensure all planned maintenance requirements are carried out and recorded
  • For promptly informing the relevant parties of any operational problems
  • For obtaining all necessary clearances and work permits before commencement of work
  • For ensuring all equipment has been correctly installed, certified and that the equipment is fit for purpose
  • Ensure that planned maintenance is carried out in accordance with maintenance schedules and logs completed
  • Maintain Fault Logs and ensure transmittal to Dive Technician Supervisor
  • Ensure all pre and post-dive checks are performed and logged
  • For the effective support to the dive team in the handling of emergency situations
  • For record-keeping and following formal procedures
  • Aware of IMCA and Class documentation requirements
  • To ensure that spares/stock is kept above minimum level
  • Maintenance of diving hats (subject to equipment specific hat training courses).
  • Input and assistance with IMCA DESIGN documentation.
  • Manage the works in such a manner as to ensure compliance with the maintenance regimes required by IMCA and as defined with in DESIGN and manufacturers specifications.
  • Ensure risk assessments are performed for all new activities in accordance with requirements
  • Act as nominated coxswain for SPHL
Key Outcomes:
  • Monitor and ensure the safe and efficient operation of maintenance operations and equipment
  • Maintain the health and safety of all relevant personnel
  • Ensure the maintenance and serviceability of the Dive systems
  • Conduct relevant briefings with regards to the operation and maintenance of diving plant, the dangers, limitations and operating parameters (familiarisations, toolbox talks,  risk assessments etc.).
  • Ensure a good level of dive system housekeeping

Knowledge & Competency:

Essential:

  • Previous knowledge, skills and experience of electrical, electronic, mechanical or hydraulic engineering gained through the following means:
  • Trade qualification
  • Advanced academic education or military training/qualification
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Current offshore medical
  • Current offshore survival course

Desired:

  • Signed logbook confirming dive technician experience
  • Has demonstrated competence as a dive technician in accordance with IMCA C 003
  • Minimum of three years’ offshore experience as a Saturation/Air Dive Technician
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of business management systems, IMCA guidelines and class requirements.
  • Have experience with the type of system being used i.e. DSV or portable systems, barge etc.
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Good technical acumen

  • Ability to work both alone and as part of a team
  • Willing to live away from home in a confined environment for lengthy periods
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Coxswain qualification for lifeboat
