The location of work is on board a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit, may be required to work at other company locations or suppliers’ premises as required.

The Driller will report directly to the Senior Toolpusher.


The Driller will Monitor and maintain the integrity of the Wellbore and the associated Well control systems. Also responsible for the management and supervision of all Rig Floor activities, the Drill crew and service personnel. Ensuring they work in a Safe, Efficient and Timely manner.

Key responsibilities:

Key responsibilities are to include the facilitation and management of the company’s integrated Business Management system to levels that will successfully achieve the requirements of all interested parties including customer, regulatory and certification authorities/providers.

The Driller will be required to:
  • Monitor and maintain Wellbore parameters as per the approved Well Program.
  • Monitor the Wellbore condition and integrity, respond accordingly to any changes.
  • Supervise all personnel working on the drill floor and surrounding area.
  • Assist as directed in jacking and skidding operations.
  • Maintain daily rig floor records including accurate and effective handovers.
  • Be aware of current Bop spaceout heights.
  • Provide advice and guidance to personnel under their authority.
  • Maintain a record of all equipment dimensions and the quantities run in the hole.
  • Maintain a record of all fluid volumes, weights, pressures and pit capacities.
  • Complete factual and accurate daily shift reports as per IADC reports
  • Conduct Pressure testing of well control equipment as per Company standards.
  • Ensure accurate and complete handovers are given at shift and rotation changes.
  • Attend onshore/offshore meetings and training programs, as required.

  • Drilling systems are always available to meet operational needs.
  • Wellbore operations are never adversely impacted as a result of availability of drilling fluids, equipment or personnel.
  • Wellbore conditions are maintained within agreed tolerances and specifications.
  • Drill line ton miles are up to date and accurate.
  • Testing of Well Control equipment has no adverse impact on planned Well activities.
  • Well Control equipment certification and periodic pressure testing is kept valid.
  • Drill Floor equipment, work areas, accessways, hand tools and housekeeping are maintained to a high standard.
  • Team competence target average is ≥ 90%

HSE Culture of Excellence

  • Actively promote and engage in the use of Well-Safe Solutions continuous improvement programs.
  • Support the investigation and review of all major reportable incidents, related to the Drilling systems.
  • Support the drilling department in doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute positively to continual improvement activities on the MODU.
  • Schedule and conduct optimisation reviews of the Drill Floor and systems.

Participate in cross discipline hazard and improvement tours (HIT’s), always promote company interest in a positive manner.

Knowledge & Competency:


  • Valid UK survival mandatory training
  • IWCF Well Control Driller Level 3
  • 5 years prior experience at Driller position, 3 years on MODU, preferably Jack Up


  • IWCF Well Control Driller Level 4
  • Knowledge of P&A operations
