Location:
The location of work is on board a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit, may be required to work at other company locations or suppliers’ premises as required.
The postholder must be able to attend our global headquarters in Aberdeen.

Reporting Line:
The Electrical Technician will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor with communication to the Rig Senior Electrician.
Role:
The Electrical Technician will Monitor and maintain the integrity of all MODU Electrical instrumentation systems and PLC systems. Also responsible for performing electronic instrumentation preventative, corrective and opportunity-based maintenance as per Maximo rig maintenance system or instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor/Rig Electrician. This is to include maintenance and calibration of all rig instrumentation systems, fault finding and repair of the PA-GA, CCTV and TV systems, calibration and fault finding on the rigs fire and gas system, also responsible for monitoring, energizing and, de-energizing systems that under their remit in a Safe, Efficient and Timely manner.
Key responsibilities:
The Electrical Technician will be required to:
- Maintain the supply and integrity of all MODU Electrical Instrumentation systems.
- Perform trouble-shooting, repair and maintenance on all Electrical Instrumentation systems and equipment.
- Ensure Electrical Instrumentation system spares inventory is maintained.
- Monitor and handle correctly software upgrades and any changes to the rigs IT systems.
- Mentor and coach other members of the maintenance team to increase their understanding of the MODU Electrical Instrumentation systems.
- Maintain Electrical Instrumentation systems workshop and tools kept to a high standard.
- Maintain the drill floor DMS system reporting any faults to the Maintenance Supervisor/Rig Electrician.
- Perform daily visual inspections of equipment and respond accordingly to faults.
- Ensure maintenance of the Electrical instrumentation systems is scheduled to avoid impacting adversely on well operations.
- Record and maintain accurate historical and certification record for all maintenance, repair and equipment replacement work.
- Ensure accurate and complete handovers are given at shift and rotation changes.
- Attend onshore/offshore meetings and training programs, as required.
Key outcomes:
- MODU Electrical instrumentation system is always available to meet operational needs.
- MODU Electrical instrumentation system, safety critical, maintenance backlog has no overdue work orders.
- Audit and inspection findings are closed within the agreed time schedule.
- Well operations are never adversely impacted as a result of the Electrical instrumentation system maintenance.
- Electrical instrumentation system areas have a high standard of house-keeping.

- Actively promote and engage in the use of Well-Safe Solutions continuous improvement programs.
- Support the investigation and review of all major reportable incidents, related to the Electrical instrumentation system.
- Support the maintenance team in doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute positively to continual improvement activities on the MODU.
- Schedule and conduct optimisation reviews within all Electrical instrumentation systems.
- Participate in cross discipline hazard and improvement tours (HIT’s), always promote company interest in a positive manner.

Knowledge & Competency:
Essential:
- Valid UK survival mandatory training
- Recognised qualification or technical accreditation in Electrical discipline.
- Comp-Ex training level Ex 01-02
- Completion of all training and certification requirements for offshore Rig Electrical Technician as described in the Companies training matrix.
- 3 years prior experience in supporting drilling operations, 2 years on MODU
- Above average Computer Skills.
Desired:
- Comp-Ex training level Ex01-04
- Higher education or degree in any of the Electrical instrumentation systems
- Experience with NOV drilling packages
