Energy Transition team

Our Energy Transition team has the knowledge and practical experience to support well engineering, decommissioning and well repurposing for geothermal and carbon capture projects.

With decades of operator and contractor experience in our ranks, our people are driven by deep sector knowledge of some of the most challenging aspects of well management. This experience includes, but is not limited to:

  • Wells for carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) purposes
  • Deep water wells
  • High pressure, high temperature (HPHT) wells
  • ERD wells
  • Sour service wells
  • Complex completions
  • Design and drilling of geothermal wells for low enthalpy direct heat and high enthalpy power generation purposes
  • Thermomechanical analysis
  • The application of reservoir engineering expertise to design and develop optimal CO2 injection scenarios in depleted gas condensate reservoirs
  • Tubular design, wellhead loading, conductor integrity, life extension, change of use and failure analysis

In addition to the extensive practical experience of our team members, several personnel have attained a high level of specialist education within their field. Their qualifications span a wide range of disciplines, including a Ph.D in Petroleum Engineering, a Masters in Oil & Gas Engineering, a Masters in Mechanical Design Engineering and a Masters in Drilling and Reservoir Engineering.

Well-Safe Solutions team members have also played a key role in the industry working group tasked with creating the first edition of the ‘Well Decommissioning for CO2Storage’ guidelines for Offshore Energies UK, providing guidance on chemical interactions between CO2-rich fluids and wellbore materials.
