The Graduate Cost Accountant will report directly to the Project Accounting Lead.


As the business continues to grow, we are looking for an individual who has recently graduated wanting to enhance their career in cost management.

The Graduate Cost Accountant will assist the Cost Accountants in tracking and monitoring daily project costs.  They will be pivotal in ensuring that goods and service receipts are up to date, that all variation orders are captured and liaising with procurement to ensure that quotations and purchase orders are coded correctly and raised in a timely manner.

The role requires an analytical, conscientious individual who works well in teams and thrives in a high-pressured environment. The role is cross-functional and therefore requires an individual who can learn to build and maintain effective relationships.

Key responsibilities:
The  Graduate Cost Accountant will be required to:
  • Form a close working relationship with the Cost Accountants, Project Accounting Lead, Project Team and the Finance team
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reporting is reliable and accurate
  • Code, review, verify contractual rates and approve vendor Cost Time Resource (CTR)
  • Ensure timely submission, reconcile & approve vendor invoices
  • Administrate the uplift of client Purchase Orders through business systems
  • Administrate the uplift of supplier Purchase Orders through business systems
  • Support suppliers with any queries and be the finance focal point for supplier training of the project system
  • Support the Cost Accountants when liaising with the Operations function to record accurate daily costs using the project system
  • Support the Cost Accountants with preparation and issue of their financial reporting requirements
  • Administer the documentation of procedures and processes for the Project Accounting team
  • Support continuous improvement of internal control and standard operating procedures
  • Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with internal and external parties
  • Support the ongoing management of the ERP system and any project related system(s)
  • Perform other duties, complete additional tasks and support ad hoc projects as required
Key outcomes:
  • Ensure all projects recording is up to date and managed to a high degree of accuracy
  • Ensure that internal policies and procedures are maintained and that these are effective
  • Support the reporting deadlines of the finance team
  • Perform month end activities in a timely manner
  • Protection and safeguarding of company assets
  • Build and maintain effective relationships internally and with key business partners, including third-party suppliers.
