Location:

Well-Safe Solutions, Aberdeen, though there may be a requirement to visit and work at other company locations or supplier’s premises as required.

The position may be required to travel offshore in support of regulatory inspections and
leadership engagement visits.

Reporting Line:

The Graduate Environmental Adviser will report directly to the HSE Manager.

With a functional reporting line to the Project Manager and dotted line to Project Environmental Specialist for project safety and environment advice delivery.

Role:

The Graduate Environmental Adviser will be responsible for assisting with the co-ordination and provision of day-to-day and medium-term HSE support for well decommissioning projects and operations.

Key responsibilities:
The Graduate Environmental Adviser will be required to:
  • Provide company support in relation to offshore environmental initiatives and
    offshore environmental reps (green teams etc.) and promote their visibility
  • Support with the maintenance and improvements of WSS environmental
    management system (EMS) and the continuous improvement of our EHS system
  • Coordinate the review and issue of environmental procedures and any roll out
    requirements
  • Contribution and participation in environmental audits
  • Support the Environmental Specialist with compliance activities including safety
    and environmental related Permits, Licenses, Applications Notification and
    Consents (PLANC) required for Well-Safe projects and Well Decommissioning
    activities
  • Work across all Well Operations activities and provide support to the Project Team
    and Offshore Teams to support and help improve environmental performance
  • Identify waste management opportunities offshore and support their
    implementation
  • Assist with the continued implementation and the maintaining WSS accreditation
    to ISO14001
  • Assist with accurate recording of environmental performance data to meet
    internal and external requirements (EEMS)
  • Assist the Environmental Specialist and HSE Advisors in support of the offshore
    and onshore teams in delivering environmental compliant operations across all
    business activities (operations and projects)
  • Assist in the proactive support and sharing of environmental lessons learned
    across the business and its assets
  • Attend and contribute to relevant team, departmental and company meetings
  • Actively participate in the development, improvement, maintenance and
    distribution of environmental programs, initiatives, awareness and general
    information material
Key outcomes:
  • Compliance with company management system, any contractual obligations
    related to the offshore well abandonment activity and PLANC reporting
    requirements for wells activities
  • Close alignment on environmental considerations between Well-Safe Well
    Engineering Team, Operations Team and Assurance Team
  • Supporting upfront PLANC preparation and identification and leading all permits,
    consents, notifications, and consents
  • Behavioral safety and control of work emphasis around key risk activities
  • Collation and reporting of environmental data and performance for Regulatory &
    Corporate Reporting, Project Managers and Clients
  • Identify trends and propose improvements and solutions
  • Providing environmental training / information to both onshore and offshore staff
  • Ensuring company procedures are in place, maintained and applied across all
    activities to allow all relevant legislation to be complied with; and support the
    maintenance of a certified Safety and Environmental Management System
  • Support the management of waste, radioactive substances and sampling &
    analysis requirements for Well Operations activities

personal time to ensure all tasks are achieved within allocated project plan timelines.

Knowledge & Competency:

Essential:

  •  Must have ability to communicate effectively and interact proactively with the rig
    and with Company and client management teams to achieve the best results
  • Understanding of Major Accident Hazard Risk Assessment to identify environmental
    consequences associated with MA and if potential environmental consequence
    could result in significant pollution / MEI
  • Excellent report writing skills, including the ability to present technical findings, risks
    and recommendations succinctly and clearly
  • Membership of recognised body e.g. IEMA

Desired:

  • Experience of decommissioning activities and regulatory framework for well
    abandonment operations
  • Valid OGUK Medical and BOSIET/FOET
  • Recognised HSE related qualification
  • Environmental / HSEQ incident investigation experience
  • Experience training personnel one-on-one or in group environments
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and conflicting priorities
