Well-Safe Solutions (Well-Safe) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Islay Subsurface & Engineering (Islay) to support ongoing operations, including the recently awarded Apache Beryl and Forties decommissioning contracts, as well as future project collaboration.
Islay will provide industry-leading specialist expertise in geology, petrophysics, geophysics, reservoir engineering and integrated subsurface studies – complementing Well-Safe Solutions’ full well lifecycle management capability and enabling clients to access full-scope solutions through a single integrated offering.
Integrating Islay’s subsurface capabilities with Well-Safe engineering and operations has been proven to increase efficiency by up to 30%, delivering significant cost reduction opportunities for clients. In addition to optimising P&A performance, the synergetic approach enhances risk reduction, building on ALARP management principles to deliver specialised well solutions based on condition, construction and operational context.
Bringing together Well-Safe’s integrated delivery model with Islay’s specialist subsurface and well engineering expertise, helps operators simplify complex scopes across the full well life-cycle while improving certainty around planning, strategy and execution. As the industry enters a period of larger, multi-well decommissioning and late-life programmes, this combined capability supports a more collaborative and technically robust approach to late life well management and ultimately plug and abandonment, reducing interfaces for clients and strengthening the supply chain’s ability to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective outcomes at scale.
